Fight for survival in this monster-ridden action game
Monster Hunter Wilds is a paid post-apocalyptic action-adventure game made by CAPCOM. It introduces players to a richly detailed world with a challenging hunting experience. This action game's setting is a living ecosystem where both wildlife and humans have adapted to the harsh conditions, offering a unique blend of survival and adventure.
Monster Hunter Wilds builds upon the legacy of the Monster Hunter series, particularly Monster Hunter: World, by introducing environmental dynamics and enhanced monster behaviors. The game features diverse herds of monsters, requiring one to study their behaviors and predict patterns to strategize effective hunts since it can take a long time.
Live in a dynamic environment
Each hunting locale in Monster Hunter Wilds features two distinct environmental states: one harsh and unforgiving, and the other vibrant and teeming with life. Players must adapt their strategies as they face monsters competing for scarce resources in the harsh state, and then again as they encounter a more lively and active ecosystem. In your spare time, a village can accommodate your needs, such as food, armor, weapons, and leisure activities.
The controls are retained from the previous Monster Hunter installments, with slight tweaks in storage organization. The soundtrack is all brand new, with occasional callbacks to previous games in some sections. The graphics also get an improvement here, making it near-realistic but still maintaining its fantasy elements. There are also new monsters to look forward to, as well as recurring ones from previous titles. Lastly, new characters are open for interaction.
New adventures, monsters, and gear
Added to the new free updates are three new monsters: the Lagiacrus, Sereigios, and an Arch-tempered Uth Duna. With Lagiacrus’ return, underwater combat is introduced, giving hunters a new mechanic and playing field to master. New armor sets from these respective monsters are added, and weapons from the Lagiacrus and Sereigios. There are tons of new quality-of-life changes added, as well as weapon balancing.
However, Monster Hunter Wilds, like its predecessors, comes with considerable or even higher system requirements due to its high-quality 3D graphics. The game also maintains the series' trademark steep learning curve, requiring players to master complex mechanics and strategies. Like previous installments, this game isn’t beginner-friendly, but once you’ve got the hang of it, the game oozes with excitement.
Worth looking forward to
Monster Hunter Wilds stands out with its dynamic environmental changes and detailed ecosystems, creating an engaging and unpredictable hunting experience. Despite heavy system requirements, the game’s innovative approach to depicting a living, breathing world makes it a must-play for fans of other titles and in the successful Monster Hunter series.
